Trump's Re-emergence and Russia's Destabilization of the US:
Consequence for Policies toward Japan and Asia

Japanese boardrooms, diplomatic circles, and media are abuzz with speculation about the possibility of a return by Donald Trump to the White House, and what it could mean for trade and defense. So common is the debate, it has spawned a Japanese language nickname, "moshi Tora," or "If Trump…"

Glenn L. Carle spoke at the FCCJ five years ago about security risks associated with Trump's first presidency and the implications for Japan and Asia. He is now returning to update club members on what a potential second term could hold for the region, especially with on ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and escalating hostility out of China and North Korea.

Carle, currently a columnist for Newsweek Japan, spent 23 years at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he last served as the Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Transnational Threats.
